As a large agricultural country, China can’t realize national modernization without agricultural modernization, can’t realize national prosperity without rural prosperity, and can’t realize nationwide well-off life without peasants being well-off.

In the “Medium and Long-term National Planning Outline for Education Reform and Development (2010—2020)”, it is clearly required to “accelerate to develop rural area-oriented vocational education”. This new requirement, which is developed from the former one: rural vocational education, is a new positioning of and new historic mission for vocational education raised by the CPC Central Committee from the perspective of “strategic balanced urban-rural development”.

How to stay oriented to rural areas? This is a question of the time deadly wanting to be answered by practice. On the strength of its advantage in traditional Chinese medicine making specialty, the Jilin Industrial and Trade School in “Jiangcheng”—Jilin city of Jilin province bases itself on agriculture related enterprises and township governments and actively extended its education to the rural areas; its school running ideas and the problems it faces are typical and thought-provoking to some extent.

Not long before, we have made an interview and investigation of the school, the school’s branches established in towns, the leaders of the towns as well as the peasant students. To learn about the true conditions, we sampled more than 100 students and applied such methods as closed, semi-closed, and individual interviews, questionnaires, on-site observation, etc.

Well, the following is our presentation of introduction and analysis thereof, with the school as the case.
