China borders the countries of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in geography. Since the “United Statements on Leader's Conference of China and ASEAN" was issued in 1997, China has built all-sided and profound relationships with ASEAN and has become one of important partners with each other. In 2002, both sides which signed the “Framework Agreement of All-round Economic Cooperation", which launched the construction process of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. On January 1, 2010, the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area was built up formally, marking the new historic period of the strategic cooperation between China and ASEAN.
