Historical Mission of TVET in China’s Economic Transition

Abstract: China has achieved remarkable economic success since it initiated reform and opening-up in the late 1970s. In the past more than 30 years, China has successfully achieved remarkable reduction in poverty rates, rising sophistication in manufacturing, and improvement in infrastructure. As Chinese economy develops and expands, China nowadays is experiencing an economic transition to next stage. During this process, getting farmers rich to boost domestic demand and up-skilling laborers to realize business transition will undoubtedly be great challenges to China. TVET shall take its responsibility and have the ability to conquer these challenges. Chinese vocational education and training is currently in its most optimal development period in history. This paper will examine how the TVET fulfills the historical mission of economic prosperity of the country in China’s economic transition.
